2010 DUNCANBY FLY FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP

Duncanby Lodge is excited to announce our first annual fly fishing derby.  Scheduled to be held during our September 4th-7th trip, the derby is divided into two categories.

Fly fishing

The first category is the largest fly caught salmon.

The salmon may be caught in the Open Ocean or intertidal estuaries. As the season rounds up the final waves of mature northern coho make their way to our local river systems, and are more than happy to take your fly.

First place will receive a Sage Fly rod.  Buck tailing is allowed however the fish must be landed on a standard fly or spay rod with fly line and a weight restriction of less than 1 oz.

The second category is the largest fly caught cod fish.

These species are often overlooked for many fly fishermen as there is a general misconception that they dwell too deep to take a fly.  On the contrary, these fish will even take surface flies as they swarm shallow reefs and open ocean kelp beds in schools by the hundreds.

First place in this category will also receive a sage fly rod.  Buck tailing is allowed however the fish must be landed on a standard fly or spay rod with fly line and a weight restriction of less than 1 oz.

No additional entry fees apply.  All fishermen booked on the September 4th trip are eligible contestants in the fly fishing derby.
