Vancouver South Terminal Airport

The South Terminal Building, and the public Seaplane Facility on the Fraser River, are a part of Airport South which is a regional hub for small aircraft, float planes, helicopter operations, corporate charters, sport fishing camps and aerospace facilities. All Duncanby's guests will take off from this terminal.

Vancouver International Airport (South Terminal)

Departure and Arrival

Your flight will leave on a Thursday (or Sunday).   All guests should arrive at the South Terminal of the Vancouver International Airport at least one hour prior to departure and check-in at the Pacific Coastal Airlines terminal.

Check in Time 9:00AM                      Departure Time 10:00AM

Once checked-in, a friendly Duncanby Representative will be there to greet you and answer any last minute questions you may have.  From the South Terminal, you will depart for Port Hardy on a spacious Beechcraft 1900 or Shorts 360 for the 1 hour flight up the Straight of Georgia.  Upon arrival in Port Hardy, you will be transferred to one of Pacific Coastal Airlines’ DeHavilland DHC-2 Beavers or the amazing Grumman Goose float plane for the 35 minute flight to the lodge.  You will arrive at our dock at approximately 12:30PM.

The baggage allowance for all our guests is restricted to 25lbs. to make room for your catch on the flight out. We recommend that our guests use a soft-sided duffel bag or sports bag to make loading of the aircraft easier.  To ensure that you have everything you will need, be sure to check the attached quick reference list before you pack.

Our lodge provides all rain jackets, pants, rubber boots, and life vests.  Although the use of life vests is mandatory, guests may prefer to store rain gear in the boat during sunny days, and relax in shorts and soft soled shoes.  The weather in Rivers Inlet is generally sunny and calm but minor storms have been known to occur.  We recommend all guests be prepared with warm, wind resistant layers for fishing or whale watching during these times.

You will depart from Duncanby Lodge’s main dock on the Sunday (or Thursday accordingly ) of your choice at approximately 12PM. Guests will fly out of the lodge on the same floatplanes you arrived in, retracing your route back to Vancouver’s South Terminal along the Georgia Straight.  Your arrival time in Vancouver will be approximately 2:30PM, so we recommend that you do not book any connecting flights until at least 5:00PM.

Guiding and Fishing Limits

Although many guests prefer to fish unguided at their leisure, we do have expert fishing guides available.  If you are interested in booking a guide, please contact us ahead of time so we can arrange suitable times. Guides are an extra $400.00CAD per day.

The catch limits per guest for Rivers Inlet remain unchanged from prior years and are as follows:

SALMON:    4 per day and possession total of 8 of which no more than
